This little junkie is sick with excitement over all the Green Day news of late: American Idiot hits the theatre AND a release date for their new album?!
American Idiot Onstage
Billie Joe Armstrong put his genius in a blender with the noggin’ of Michael Mayer (director of Broadway hit, Spring Awakening) to produce the script for the theatrical production of American Idiot–premiering this September in Berkeley, CA. All the gang from the band’s ridunkulously amazing rock opera will be there: Jesus of Suburbia, Whatsername, and St. Jimmy. Obviously the music from Idiot will be included, but expect some tracks from the new album to make an appearance, too.
The release date for 21st Century Breakdown, the follow up to Idiot, has been announced from on high (Warner Bros. Records) for May 15th. The tracks will be presented in three acts: “Heroes and Cons,” “Charlatans and Saints,” and “Horseshoes and Handgrenades.” Word on the street is, this baby is very reminiscent of Dookie. The first single, Know Your Enemy is expected to debut April 24th.
It’s been a long five years since American Idiot was released (yeah, five.), and I plan to soak up every last note. Anyone want to e-mosh with me? ::shove::
