Humpday Hoku: Ladies Week

Inky badness

Have you ever noticed something lacking when it comes to strong roles for women? Yesterday’s post had a list of some pretty rockin’ chicks, but most of their shows got canceled or have been on ye olde chopping block more than once (9 of the 12). And film’s no better. Of the top grossing films of 2008, women were were blown up (The Dark Knight), made to assist in skin tight clothes and five-inch heels (Iron Man), destroyed for attempting to gain power (Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull), or revealed to be the near destruction of the “loveable” hero (Hancock). Your basic afterthought. Thank god the real heroes had that handy wang to get them out of a tight spot!

Why are decent roles in the minority? Why do the Academy Awards reward those who “ugly up” & the box office those who “strip down?” Srsly, people!

Thusly, the hoku was born (and we aint talkin’ Hoku):

Inspiring the young
Megan? Miley? Certainly!
Head up. Boobs out. Smile!

Canceled & Ignored
Who Needs Wit, Talent & Class
With A Perky Ass?
