That Sucks: Dr. Parnassus is a Tease

78 more days until Terry Gilliam’s latest masterpiece is released in the United States!?! Gaaaa! Seeing this beautiful trailer just makes it worse, but I am a glutton for punishment (hence the “junkie” in my title). To me, showing these early trailers off is as bad as Damon, Carlton, and their damn polar bear making me wait until 2010 to finish LOST.

Watch, weep, and wait. In that order:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Gilliam will assuredly get me again when promotional materials for his next literary adaptation arise: The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (Johnny Depp and Michael Palin are both rumored to star, with K-k-k-k-k-k-k-en as the titular windmill slayer). Note: I am still pulling for Gilliam’s long-abandoned adaptations of Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities (starring Mel Gibson),  Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens, and Mark Twain’s A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court (Mark Twain?! Yay!) to come back from the dead. Perhaps the (highly likely) success of Dr. Parnassus will inspire more confidence in the director and studios.

Update! Check out this poster!!

Wanna start a petition to get Gilliam to start working on your list? Maybe if we offered to work for free as his assistants it’d entice him!
