Alternative Disney Princesses

Sam Nielson works for Avalanche Software/Disney Interactive Studios. Sam Nielson envisioned these potential literary “princesses” for this post on the Avalanche blog. Sam Nielson is awesome.

Oh, for the carefree life of Hester Prynne!

I’m thinking, let’s get the animated/musical version of Madame Bovary cookin’. Or maybe Josephine March (Little Women)? Although, Lily Bart (The House of Mirth) may be perfect, because she is dying to get hitched, and as I learned from my recent screening of The Princess and the Frog, you can’t even have a job until you are married.

What say you? Which literary (non-fair tale) heroines would make for good alternative Disney princesses?

How about a little Shakespeare… Titus Andronicus perhaps? ….Maybe it’s a little too dark for Disney.
