Edgar Wright, genius behind Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz, has a new movie coming out: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (based on the graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley)…and I want to see it.
Fun fact: The name “Scott Pilgrim” originates from a song by the all-girls ’90s band Plumtree
Here’s the scoop: Michael Cera basically plays Nick from Nick & Nora except Nora is now called Ramona Flowers and employs the coif stylings of Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Instead of Nick breaking things off with his evil ex, Scott has to defeat Ramona’s evil exes–seven of them. Oh yeah, and one of them is another former ex of Mr. Cera: Bland Egg Annabel Yam Plant Plain Ann Hog Ann Veal (Mae Whitman) from Arrested Development.

All I have to say is this: who goes from Chris Evans to Michael Cera? (rounding out the cast of this so-called “epic of epic epicness”: Kieran Culkin, Jason Schwartzman, Brandon Routh, and Alison Pill). Expect to see young master Pilgrim sometime this summer (late July-ish)–at least that’s when the sixth and final chapter of the graphic novel will be released (and they are supposed to coincide). Note: they are also planning on turning Scott Pilgrim into a video game.
Honestly though, Wright had me at THWOK SMACK WHUD WHIP KPOK KROWW
