Ninjatown: Trees of Doom will consume your life

I don’t often talk about apps, because, for some strange reason, not all people have iPhones. That said, if you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch get thee to the Appery (nod to Shakespeare) and buy Ninjatown Trees of Doom!. It was originally a Nintendo DS game, and is now a really well-executed app on your iProducts. I want to be able to say that I’m endorsing this game, because it’s beautifully designed and has great interactions, because you can turn into a yellow ninja once you’ve earned your stripes and the endless journey to the top is full of surprises even after the 5 millionth time you’ve played it. Honestly, though, I think it has something to do with the fact that there is and exclamation point in the official title…!

Bonus: get it from the iTunes App Store for $1.99. You can also enjoy Plus+ technology for global leaderboards to show off all your Ninjatown awards.

Basically, you jump from tree to tree, avoid baddies, grab prizes, and dodge volcanic balls of…well, doom:

In Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! , the player is a Wee Ninja who must impress his wise mentor Ol’ Master Ninja by running straight up a pair of towering trees, jumping between the two to avoid treacherous hazards. The trees become more deadly as the Wee Ninja ascends – watch out for slippery patches, untouchable Dark Syrup, Deadly Swarms, and demonic enemies like Flying Devils, Syrup Devils, and spear-wielding Tribal Devils. Oh, there is also a live volcano spewing lava balls nearby! On the bright side, you can launch upwards by using flexible branches like catapults and there are power ups galore, including the ability to hitch a ride up the tree on the flying mucho macho Moustachio.

Moustachio is my favorite character, because it’s a mustache ride to the tune of the Magnum P.I. theme song–a fact which causes ZRose to exclaim “Takin’ it to the TOP-ah!” every time she gets a ride. Incidentally, I think this may also be the theme song of my life–if I had to choose one.

You hadn’t already picked a theme song? For shame J1, for shame.

Well, I should have clarified that it’s a new theme to signify my adult life. I’m a little tentative still, because I might have to revert back to my tried-and-true Ducktales theme one day (D-D-D-Danger!).
